Calculating uptime—how it works

The percentage of available time that QuickBooks Online is ready for use is our "uptime" and is measured monthly. In fact, the uptime for QuickBooks Online since January 2007 is 99.81%. While this is an exceptionally high uptime rating, this means that possible instances of reduced performance or inaccessibility may occur for less than two hours cumulatively out of 730 hours in a typical month.

Intuit's professional staff and automated tools monitor your data and the service twenty four hours a day, seven days a week for potential causes of downtime. Causes of downtime include those we plan in advance for the typical maintenance of our service as well as unplanned downtime due to unanticipated network or system issues. Oftentimes, downtime is really "partial" in nature, meaning your use of QuickBooks Online is unaffected or only slightly affected. You probably won't notice any significant degradation in service.

During an instance of unplanned downtime, our staff immediately begins diagnosing issues and implementing solutions to bring performance back to acceptable service levels. Depending on the severity and situation of the unplanned downtime, we may notify you by posting an alert within the service website or sending an email.

Most instances of unplanned downtime are corrected within a short period of time.
