QuickBooks Online
Password protection—how it works
Password-Protected Access
QuickBooks Online offers access only to registered users who have specified a unique user name and password. Each user you invite to be part of your QuickBooks Online account creates his or her own password and no one — not even the Chairman of Intuit — can see it. To protect against unauthorized viewing, we employ a range of procedural and technical safeguards:
- QuickBooks Online revalidates the login credentials with every request on our servers.
- We require your permission to view your data on a Support call using a patented process whereby a client grants a QuickBooks Online Service Consultant one-time access via a uniquely generated code.
- Users are automatically logged-out after closure of all browser windows or one hour of inactivity.
- QuickBooks Online uses an industry-standard password recovery process with a challenge question you choose to reset your password, create a new one, and email it to a pre-specified email address.
Data Security During Transmission
QuickBooks Online encrypts your data transmissions over the Internet using industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL helps ensure that your information is protected during transmission over the Internet. This is the same type of encryption technology that many banks and online trading companies use to protect your data as it travels over the Internet.
Data Security in Storage
QuickBooks Online protects your business by storing your critical financial data on firewall-protected servers. QuickBooks Online automatically backs up your data at no extra charge.
